What is a Memo/Tag/Comment?
A Memo/tag/Comment (collectively called “tag” in this article) is a unique alphanumeric identifier bound to a deposit address, forming a paired relationship. For certain cryptocurrencies, CoinEx uses shared deposit addresses across users to optimize costs and management efficiency. Your personal tag acts as the critical identifier that ensures your funds are accurately credited to your account within this shared address system.
Importance of Tag
When depositing tag-required tokens to CoinEx, it is crucial to accurately fill in both the deposit address and the corresponding tag.
Note: Any errors in either field can prevent successful deposits.
1. If only the address is provided and the tag is missing, the system cannot identify which user the deposit belongs to, which may result in the funds not being credited to your account. They might remain in a "pending" state or be returned to the sending address.
2. If the tag is incorrect, even if the address is correct, the system will reject the deposit due to a "tag mismatch," potentially leading to funds being returned or not credited.
What should I do if my deposit does not arrive?
If your deposit fails due to missing or incorrect tags, CoinEx provides a self-service to “Retrieve Uncredited Deposit”. To retrieve your funds, you can follow these steps:
1. Log in to the CoinEx website or app, go to [Assets] - [Deposit], and locate the deposit that hasn’t arrived.
2. Click "Self-Retrieve", and fill in the required information, such as the deposited coin, recipient address for deposit, deposit amount, and transaction hash (TxID).
3. Submit the request. CoinEx customer support will review and process your request manually (the processing time depends on the blockchain confirmation speed).
